An innovative project one hour from Buenos Aires and Montevideo to live differently

An innovative project one hour from Buenos Aires and Montevideo to live differently

What is this project about?

We focus on thinking about what new cities are like. We have experience in developing other neighborhoods, what we are looking for is to interpret and generate the city for the future.

The point is to find a balance between the urban and the natural. After the pandemic, it is now a matter of bringing the office closer to home. This is a project that was developed with urban planners thinking about the cities “of 15 minutes”.

What it does is reduce all your travel times, it puts “everything in one place”. It is also intelligent because we have a governance system through a brain that the city has and then it is a co-governance with the same citizens in the next districts, as we call them.

It is a place to go to live, but also to work?

It is about living in a sustainable, intelligent place, where you can also work if you are an entrepreneur, and where you can also access all the services without leaving the place.

The property already has 7 and a half km of beach, two quarries with crystal clear water and a lagoon, in addition to one hundred hectares of natural environment and forest, but there will be much more, even the most common such as a soccer field, paddle tennis court, etc

Obviously, it will also have all the services: gastronomy, health, and education.

What stage are you in now and how many stages are left?

Today what we are offering are the first five buildings. This will require a work that we call “long work”, lasting 30 months. Within this period, a lot of “small projects” will take place, such as offices, coworking, etc.

Do you have an estimated date for the start of the work and the inauguration?

We have all the feasibility studies ready and we will be presenting them these days. There are times that we do not control, but we hope to have the endorsement for the venture in a few weeks. The tenders for the infrastructure tasks are ready, so when we get these authorizations we will start the work.

We estimate that this could take us no more than two years.

Melitón Gonzalez del Solar is one of the founding partners of the +Colonia project in Uruguay.

A project for Cologne

andres castellanopresident of the Cologne Developers Association and of the Departmental Tourist Associationexplains to Ámbito.com the impact that the project will have on the commune.

What is the change that the project implies for Colonia?

It is a one hundred percent transformative project. It fundamentally has a conception of transforming the employment matrix, which is the key to real estate development.

Likewise, it has the attribute of summoning companies to establish themselves, especially focused on the knowledge industry.

What does Colonia have as a difference to be chosen?

I fundamentally believe it has something that we did not discover, the Portuguese discovered it, which is the dimension of the potential that it has. We know that it is one hour from Buenos Aires and two from Montevideo, maximum.

It has an area of influence over more than ten million people. And that makes it appealing, with a quality of life that considerably exceeds the region’s average.

How do you think it will impact the department?

This is the most important project in recent years.

There are also other important projects at this time, one of them is the establishment of a service free zone, which will employ between 500 and 1,000 people.
