When purchasing transport bikes with or without an electric drive, private individuals, companies, municipalities and clubs will in future receive a maximum of 1000 euros instead of 900 euros. There is a new subsidy of a maximum of 600 euros for folding bikes, provided the buyer has an annual pass for public transport. The aim is to make the combined use of cycling and public transport more attractive. When folded, the folding bikes must not be larger than 110 x 80 x 40 centimeters – with these dimensions they can be considered luggage on ÖBB trains.
Furthermore, the purchase of at least five e-bikes for companies, municipalities and clubs is supported with 400 euros per bike. The Ministry and the bicycle retailer share the costs.
The subsidy is capped at a maximum of 30 percent or, for private individuals, a maximum of 50 percent of the bicycle price. In the previous year, the ministry supported the purchase of around 12,000 bicycles with or without an electric drive.
