According to the broadcast, the man had been “extremely ruthless and at excessive speed” in a 30 zone, the officers followed with blue lights and a follow-up horn. The driver drove away at over 50 km/h. The 19-year-old was eventually stopped. As a result, a total of 33 violations were found. The officials became aware of the man during traffic controls last Friday late afternoon. When fleeing through the city center, the local sometimes drove against the one-way street and attracted attention because of his risky driving style. With the help of passers-by who indicated the driver’s route, the 19-year-old was stopped. The young man refused an investigation on suspicion of impairment by addictive substances.
The e-scooter had a design speed of 55 instead of the permitted 25 km/h, the Lower Austrian police said. The factory specification for the built-in battery was 1,200 watts, twice as high as permitted. The vehicle was therefore classified as a motorcycle, but the 19-year-old did not have the appropriate driving license. The driver’s license was taken from the Lower Austrian and he was reported to the district authority.
