Herbert Leitenmüller, pastor emeritus of St. Georgen, died at the age of 84. The funeral service will be celebrated on Friday at 1:30 p.m. in the parish church of St. Georgen. After the requiem, burial will take place in the parish cemetery. Prayers for the deceased will be held on Thursday at 7.30 p.m. in the parish church of St. Georgen im Attergau.
Herbert Leitenmüller was born on April 9, 1939 in Haslach an der Mühl. After completing his compulsory schooling, he learned the trade of toolmaker in Voest. He then attended the Horn advanced school and entered the seminary in Linz. On November 29, 1970, he was ordained a priest in the Voest pastoral care center.
In 1971 he first took up a position as a cooperator in Pfandl, before becoming a cooperator from 1971 to 1981 and then pastor of St. Georgen im Attergau until his retirement in 2012. His work with the Jungeschar and the carol singers and his guitar accompaniment at the mass are particularly memorable. He taught many an approach to music and playing the guitar. Even after his retirement in 2012, he remained loyal to the people as a priest and pastor in the deanery of Frankenmarkt.
