The Maximilianhaus has a new offer: You can now download videos of lectures from the educational center’s online portal. The offer is still “manageable”, Wilhelm Seufer-Wasserthal admits, but it will gradually grow. You can watch the lectures at home via PC, tablet or mobile phone and some of them are even free of charge.
Archive keeps growing
“During the Corona period, we held many online or hybrid events,” says the head of the educational center. The lectures were recorded. This resulted in a constantly growing archive of videos. Now the idea came up to reuse these videos.
Incidentally, this idea is not all that new: Ernst Pointl, one of Seufer-Wasserthal’s predecessors, recorded, copied and sold lectures on cassette back in the 1990s. Over time, however, this offer fell asleep again. Now the Maximilianhaus wants to tie in with it again – only with modern technology and the possibilities of the Internet.
“In recent years we have gained a lot of experience with online formats, streaming and recording,” says Seufer-Wasserthal. Some of these videos are now made available for viewing. “We have found that caring relatives, for example, often cannot come to our events.”
Currently about a dozen videos via home page www.maximilianhaus.at available. Some of the lectures are freely available, while others can only be viewed after registration and payment of a fee, which will cost between seven and 15 euros. “Important topics such as spiritual-religious impulses will be free of charge,” emphasizes the head of the educational center, who will release the list of videos at 6 p.m. today.
