The Wels energy saving trade fair started on Wednesday and Thursday with excellent visitor numbers: the number of visitors was significantly higher than in the previous year, according to the Wels trade fair. “Wednesday was the busiest trade visitor day in years. We can look back on good discussions with the trade visitors,” says Johannes Eder, Managing Director of the exhibitor Novellini GmbH.

The public fair begins today in the Wels exhibition halls. In three exhibition halls, 355 exhibitors will be providing information about all innovations in energy saving in the areas of construction, living and energy over the next three days. In addition to numerous companies presenting their new products, visitors can also look forward to a comprehensive range of advice on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Here is an overview of what is on offer in Halls 19, 20 and 21:
- Hall 19 – building and living: The focus in the area of building and living, to which Hall 19 is dedicated, is this year on the topic of refurbishment – also because of the new regulations for granting housing loans, many people are increasingly deciding to refurbish existing houses and apartments. In view of the increased heating costs, thermal renovations are highly topical for many consumers, and the exhibitors will provide information on different insulation materials and renovation options.
- Hall 20 – heating and power generation: Photovoltaic systems, pellet heating systems and heat pumps are very popular given the rise in heating and energy prices. In Hall 20, exhibitors will provide information about efficient systems. Smart technologies, which can be used to control the heating remotely, play a major role here.
- Hall 21 – mix of topics: Exhibitors from all three areas of energy, bathroom and building and living can be found in exhibition hall 21. During a tour, visitors can get an impression of the design and technical innovations in the sanitary sector.
- special shows: The Upper Austrian Energy Saving Association is showing three special shows at its stand, where there are also numerous advisory services: In “AdieuOil – get out of oil and gas” renewable alternatives to fossil fuels are presented. Various options for thermal renovation are explained under the topic “Insulation materials”. The special show “Reducing energy costs” deals with ways of making houses or apartments more efficient. The OaseBad advertising community shows the latest developments in the sanitary sector under the motto “Life energy”.
Lectures and consultations: In addition to the consultations of various organizations, there will also be several lectures on all three days of the fair, for example on the topic of “Correct renovation”. You can find the program online at www.energiesparmesse.at
The OÖN at the fair: The Oberösterreichische Nachrichten is also represented in hall 21 with stand 1215 at the energy saving trade fair. All subscribers can pick up a dynamo flashlight there. There is also the opportunity to take part in the OÖ Nachrichten energy-saving competition and win ten energy-efficient household appliances worth 10,000 euros, for example.
By train to the fair
If you want to avoid the search for a parking space and travel to the energy saving trade fair sustainably, you can take the train to Wels main station and from there take special trains directly to the exhibition center.
These run today, tomorrow and on Sunday every half hour on the route of the Almtalbahn between the train station and the exhibition center. All trains are low-floor and therefore barrier-free. You can find the exact timetable in the OÖVV digital timetable information at ooevv.at

New state funding for e-charging stations
In order to promote the expansion of charging stations in Upper Austria, the state of Upper Austria is providing new funding with a total volume of three million euros. Companies, municipalities, clubs, denominational organizations and leisure facilities are supported under the heading “Upper Austria is charging”.
The state funding is based on that of the federal government, which is increased by 75 percent for companies and even doubled for all other beneficiaries. There are surcharges if, for example, parking spaces remain unsealed or are only partially sealed. If a municipality also fulfills the latter, it receives a subsidy of 1410 euros, for example, with net costs of 2000 euros. “From 2020 to 2022, the number of e-charging points in Upper Austria more than doubled. We want to further accelerate this pace of expansion with our new funding,” says Economics and Energy Councilor Markus Achleitner (VP).
