With the current ÖVP “no state can be made”: This was the conclusion reached on Friday by Christian Hafenecker, FP Secretary General and faction leader of his party in the VP corruption investigation committee. He presented the FP parliamentary group report on the U-Committee.

From the point of view of the Freedom Party, the ÖVP has “organized corruption”. “The ÖVP acted like a political vampire: whenever we brought light into the black darkness, it crumbled to dust,” said Hafenecker. For future sub-committees, he calls for TV broadcasts and the election of a deputy as sub-committee chairman. Because the President of the National Council, Wolfgang Sobotka, has made Austria a “laughing stock” through his partisan interpretation of the presidency. Hafenecker praised the work of the SPÖ in the committee, as well as that of the Greens and – with a few minor exceptions – that of the Neos.

The FPÖ is currently dealing with its own financial scandal in Graz. There, party members had diverted funds from the municipal club promotion on a large scale. The public prosecutor’s office is investigating there, among other things, against the former deputy mayor of Graz, Mario Eustacchio.
