the coalition reported the deaths of 165 Houthi rebels

The attacks “destroyed ten military vehicles and killed more than 165 terrorist elements” in the last 24 hours in Al Abdiya, the coalition reported in a statement released by the official SPA agency.

For a week, the coalition has announced daily the deaths of dozens of rebels in this area, where the insurgents are advancing towards Marib, the last government stronghold in northern Yemen.

On Twitter, The Houthis claimed this Sunday that they have seized several fronts around Marib, including Al Abdiya. This district has suffered airstrikes in recent days that have killed around 1,000 rebels, according to the coalition.

These figures could not be independently verified and the Houthis rarely report casualties in their ranks.

Al Abdiya is located about 100 kilometers south of the city of Marib, in a oil-rich and geographically strategic region between the north and south of Yemen.

Since 2014, pro-government forces have been waging war against the Houthis, supported by Iran and who control much of the north of the country, except for Marib.

Since 2015, the Saudi-led military coalition has assisted pro-government forces in their fight.

In seven years of war, tens of thousands of people, mostly civilians, have died and millions have been displaced, according to international organizations.

The international community searches in vain for a peaceful solution to this conflict that has caused the worst humanitarian crisis in the world, according to the UN. Almost 80% of the Yemeni population depends on humanitarian aid to survive.
