During a search, police officers found a female body in a wooded area on Sunday afternoon. It was still unclear in the afternoon whether it was the twelve-year-old. The place where the child was last seen around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday is not far from where it was found. The search for the twelve-year-old was initially interrupted after the body was found.
Recently visiting a friend
The child was last seen walking home after visiting a friend. The shortest way to get there is through a piece of forest. Freudenberg is located on the state border with Rhineland-Palatinate and belongs to the district of Siegen-Wittgenstein.
The police, together with the fire department, started a large-scale search on Saturday. Area search dogs and “mantrailer” dogs specializing in the search for people were there. During the night, a helicopter with a thermal imaging camera flew over the area. The search went through the night.
The body, which has not yet been identified, was discovered in a wooded area above Freudenberg-Hohenhain. The police began investigating the site. In search of any traces, the area was cordoned off over a wide area.
