The Producer Price Index shows an interannual variation of -17.58% in the Agriculture, Livestock, Hunting and Forestry sector.
Uruguay finds itself in an industrial production that is receding at the beginning of the year, where the one that stands out the most is the refrigerator that reached a 32% year-on-year decline.
This week the National Statistics Institute (INE) disclosed data that reflect a drop in some of the industrial sectors, among which the refrigeration and the production of beverage concentrates (Pepsi in Zona Franca Colonia) stand out, with a 8% less if they are compared with the month of January of last year.
However, the sectors that did obtain advances were the production of pharmaceutical products with an increase of 41% and also an advance in the beverage industry with an increase of 11%, but practically all the rest of the sectors had year-on-year drops.
The data for January are a first indication of the direction of the industry, which must be confirmed in the following months. In any case, when taking the moving year, industrial production shows a slowdown in its growth in recent monthsmarking an advance of 3% in the rolling year to January, compared to the previous year.
One of the consequences of the post-pandemic was the sharp increase in the industrial production cycle, which currently shows stability since last year.
According to the INE, the Producer Price Index of National Products, In the last 12 months, taking into account the months of February 2022 and 2022, the price variation in the Agriculture, Livestock, Hunting and Forestry sector had a drop of 17.58%. While in the monthly variation index, it shows an increase of 3.07% with an incidence of 0.98 percentage points in the variation of the general index.
