With the help of a clearing vehicle, an 82-year-old wrong-way driver was stopped on the Pyhrnautobahn (A9) near Selzthal on Wednesday. The pensioner from the Liezen district drove onto the wrong feeder road in Liezen, turned around just before the Selzthal tunnel and drove back in the opposite direction. The driver of a clearing vehicle forced the woman to stop. She turned her car and drove away, was later investigated and reported.
According to a police report, the pensioner originally wanted to drive to Linz on Wednesday morning, but mistakenly came across the feeder road in the direction of Graz. Before the Selzthal tunnel, she decided to turn her vehicle around and has been driving in the opposite direction ever since – even when she switched to the Liezen feeder road. It was only brought to a standstill when the driver of the clearing vehicle steered his vehicle in the middle and emitted light signals.
While he was still busy stopping the following traffic, the elderly woman turned her car again. She drove correctly onto the Autobahn in the direction of Linz and continued her journey without having disclosed her personal data.
