The Ministry of Industry will provide  million for producers affected by the drought

The minister of Industry, Energy and Mining (MIEM), Omar Paganiniassured this Thursday in the framework of the ExpoActiva 2023 in the department of Sorianothat your portfolio will contribute 13 million pesos for those agricultural, horticultural, and dairy producers affected by the drought. In addition, they must have installed, exclusively, solar water pumps or implement energy efficiency actions in their establishments.

The head of MIEM assured that Uruguay “has many opportunities for agro-industrial growth”, but “unfortunately the phenomenon of the dry impacts us very strongly” and that his portfolio “reinforced a commitment” with “all the country’s agro-industrial chains.”

This support measure consists of two parts. The first instrument will be 9 million pesos through which those producers who effectively develop energy efficiency measures on their properties will be reimbursed. The refund will be up to 45,000 pesoswith a top of 90% from the investment. The call is open until December 15 or until exhaustion of quotas.

The second instrument consists of 3.75 million pesos intended for those who have solar water pumps installed since the declaration of the agricultural emergency. This state tool can be requested until December 28th and contemplates a return of 25,000 pesos for a maximum of 150 producers of the agriculture

UTE will give a discount to producers who carry out energy efficiency actions

On the other hand, joint venture will make a monthly discount on the total cost of electricity for those producers who carry out energy efficiency actions, said the national director of Energy Fitzgerald Stonemason.

In that same line, the National Energy Directorate (ID) presented two manuals of good energy practices aimed at the dairy and fruit and vegetable sector. On this, Paganini said that “being able to use less energy to achieve better results is the future and that is where we have to go.”
