Denmark allows Syrians to be deported back to their homeland

The Appeal Committee is the final decision-making body in disputed asylum cases. The panel justified its decision with an improved security situation in the province.

Since 2019, Denmark has revoked the residence permits of 150 Syrian nationals from Damascus and the surrounding area, according to the immigration authorities. The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) expressed concern. The situation in the country devastated by civil war does not justify the end of international protection for Syrian refugees, said a spokeswoman. According to Amnesty International, Denmark and Hungary are the only two EU countries that have revoked residence permits for Syrian refugees.

Civil war has been raging in Syria for twelve years. According to human rights organizations, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad is having members of the opposition and opponents persecuted with merciless severity.
