The Broad Front sector formalized its support for the mayor of Canelones in the face of the 2024 general elections.
He Popular Participation Movement (MPP) officially launched the presidential candidacy of the mayor of cannelloni, Yamandu Orsi, within the framework of the 11th Space Congress. The leaders of the industry broad front (FA), among whom was the former president Jose Mujicaexpressed their support for the departmental leader ahead of the 2024 general elections.
Prior to Orsi’s words, the president of the FA, Fernando Pereiramaintained that his government force is “the only hope that Uruguay has”. For his part, the Canarian mayor took the microphone and began his speech by presenting himself to the Frente Amplista militants as “a Canelones canary” who went to public school and began his militancy in his youth.
Later, the chief valued that within the MPP “the old” taught him to have “strategic vision” and to escape from conjunctural discussions, at the same time as to think “broadly” in order to “grow”. Along these lines, she expressed that in that same “house”, when they commit to a certain cause, they do it “to the bone”.
Orsi, assured that he understood that his duty is to “govern for all”, and indicated that the FA faces the “great challenge” of “get this government out of where it is” because “we have a lot of pain, it hurts where we go”, and the fact that “people are left behind”.

Along these lines, he shot at the government by assuring that “It makes our gurisada keep leaving”and that, moreover, “generates that poverty and childhood are part of the same reality”. In turn, he targeted the president Luis Lacalle Pou when affirming that he “understands the concept of the gold mesh”, and that those who understand cycling “know that you can also win as a team, and the stragglers, let them be kidded”.
Finally, he remarked that “we are going to be” in the role that “the FA says”, and “we are going to get there if we are all together”, because “the leaders are nothing without the mass of the people who are the back”, oriental convinced that “we have to change this country”, he concluded.
To culminate, Mujica showed his full support for Orsi, and commented that from the MPP they are going “to fight for this comrade to be president, but if it is not his turn, we will put our shoulder to what society and the people of the Front decide.”
