The fall of a helicopter with five soldiers on board occurred in the town of Quibdó, in the department of Chocó.

According to the president, the aircraft was doing “supply” tasks and ordered to investigate the reasons for the accident. No authority has reported on the conclusions of the investigations.

Videos on social networks show the helicopter circling in the air until falling into the vegetation.

The uniformed men were going to “bring food” to other soldiers in that region, where illegal armed groups have a strong presence, Colonel Héctor Candelario told the media.

The helicopter was “completely incinerated,” said the official, who added that according to local residents, two of the soldiers jumped out of the aircraft before it crashed to the ground.
