Three and a half years ago, Florian Simmer from Bad Ischl took over the Rettenbachalm. Insolvency proceedings for his company were opened today at the regional court in Wels. The restaurateur has accumulated liabilities of 99,000 euros, more than 20 creditors are affected.

According to Simmer, he is a victim of the pandemic. After the usual start-up problems, the lockdowns and restrictions in 2020 and 2021 would have limited its operations. Since he only started his business in autumn 2019, he was also hardly able to claim any Corona aid.

But the innkeeper wants to renovate his business again. The central measure here is a switch to self-service. In this way, Simmer intends to significantly reduce personnel costs. A commissioned management consultant sees good chances that the Rettenbachalm will recover economically.

“The insolvency administrator who has yet to be appointed will examine whether the company can be restructured and continued without further losses for the creditors,” explains Alexander Meinschad from the Credit Protection Association 1870.
