Activists blocked the road on Waldeggstrasse and Wiener Strasse near Bulgariplatz from 7:15 a.m. This time they were supported by scientists from the “Scientists for Future” group, who had supported the climate stickers in solidarity. “The facts are clear. It is time to act.” – This is the statement that was on the banner of the scientists. Supporters also came from the “Parents for Future” group and the cycling lobby to show solidarity with the “last generation”.
Motorists sat on climate adhesive
One driver lost his composure. First he tried to drag an activist off the street. When he didn’t succeed, he simply sat down on the climate sticker. After that he even gave a TV interview to a journalist – while sitting on the activist. In a statement, the “Last Generation” then said: “We understand the anger of the people who are prevented by us from continuing”.
In principle, they are satisfied with today’s protest actions, says Jelena Saf of the “Last Generation”. Today she would have noticed that people in traffic started to discuss the necessity of the protests with each other. “I was happy about that,” because solidarity was also visible here.
“There were no major incidents, we let an ambulance through without flashing lights.” But that is usually difficult, because the drivers would not form a rescue lane. “That’s a shame, because we’re leaving part of the roadway open to let emergency vehicles through. But sometimes they can’t get through in traffic jams. It would be the driver’s duty to form a rescue lane.” As soon as the police got there, it would have worked, says the climate activist. According to the police, the streets were free again shortly after eight o’clock.

100 km/h on the freeway and the immediate stop of all new oil and gas drilling – that’s what the activists of the “last generation” want to achieve with their actions. They only blocked Waldeggstrasse on Monday.
