Two founding members come from the Mühlviertel and are now reporting in their homeland on more than 20 years of service.
It is primarily the cataract that robs people of their sight. This age-related clouding of the lens could be surgically corrected. “Seeing Without Borders” has been bringing these operations to people in developing countries where medical care is inadequate for the past 20 years. Since the association was founded, more than 50 eye camps have been held in countries such as Namibia, Zambia, Nepal, Tanzania, Nigeria and Zimbabwe.
“In many cases, the local ophthalmological infrastructure could be improved or medical staff trained,” report Christoph Faschinger, who grew up in Eidenberg, and Michael Kern, who was born in Aigen-Schlägler. How the two founding members, together with a dedicated team, manage to fight avoidable blindness under often adventurous and difficult conditions will be experienced at the lecture on March 24th at Schlägl Abbey.
Faschinger will provide information about the internationally recognized activity and also show pictures. The lecture will take place at 6.30 p.m. in the seminar center of the Schlägl Abbey with free admission.
