A man from the Ried district was taken in by investment fraudsters: he was promised lucrative investments on an online platform in the middle of the previous year. A supposed employee of the online company “helped” the more than 60-year-old victim to enter the transfer using remote maintenance software. A seven-digit euro amount was then transferred to several accounts.
The man was able to track his wealth growth on a fictitious dashboard. When this had already increased to seven times their original deposit, the victim intended to cash out around half of it. The unknown fraudsters again elicited a seven-figure sum from the man – allegedly to cover advance tax payments. After he was still not paid anything, the injured party reported to the police.
