At the most recent municipal council meeting, Gmunden’s City Councilor for Finance, Thomas Höpoltseder (ÖVP), presented the city’s financial statement for 2022. While the estimate was based on a loss of 700,000 euros, current business activities at the end of the year saw a plus of 808,000 euros. The surplus flowed into the reserves, which reached a level of 4.8 million euros.
The investments in 2022 were almost three million euros. This is a decrease of around 1.5 million euros compared to 2021. In contrast, investments of 6.4 million euros are planned for this year. For example, the renovation of the town hall will begin in the autumn.
Liabilities fell by 2.2 million to 28 million euros. No loans were taken out in the last year. The municipality had to pay a total of 190,000 euros for interest.
Höpoltseder also informed the municipal council that the proceeds from the sale of the Seeviertel in the amount of 15 million euros had been transferred to the municipality a few days ago. “We will repay the loan that we took out to purchase this property in 2016 early with a partial amount of almost five million euros,” said the City Councilor for Finance. “The remainder of almost seven million euros will be added to the reserves. With the future building lease interest for the hotel of around 150,000 euros per year – for 80 years – we can also easily repay the remaining loan without any additional burden on the current budget.”
