While FC Bayern Munich officially confirmed the dismissal of coach Julian Nagelsmann on Friday afternoon, it was also announced that the coach’s partner was also taking a new career path.
Lena Wurzenberger had previously worked in the local editorial office of the Bild newspaper. As the Axel-Springer-Verlag announced when asked by dpa, she will be leaving the newspaper at the end of March of her own volition. “We have complied with this and wish her every success in the future,” it said.

According to media reports, Wurzenberger was on a skiing holiday in the Zillertal with Nagelsmann on Thursday evening when the trainer’s surprising dismissal was publicized in the media. The Bild newspaper was among the first media. Nagelsmann himself confirmed to the “kicker” on Thursday evening that he had not heard anything from the club about a possible dismissal. A meeting in Munich was only scheduled for Friday.
In addition, there was speculation in the media that the vacation could have been one of the reasons for Nagelsmann’s dismissal. This time-out is said to have sent the wrong signal to the team in this delicate phase of the season.
FC Bayern yesterday presented Thomas Tuchel as his successor. He will receive a contract until the summer of 2025 and will be in charge of training from Monday. On the following Saturday, Munich welcome the new leaders Borussia Dortmund.
