The dollar closed the fourth week of March in negative

Until last Friday, the dollar accumulated a large increase in the first 17 days of March, which reached 1.55%. However, with the fall of 1.42% of the week that closed todaythat variable remained in just 0.11%. The expectations that the evolution of the current month would neutralize the strong drop in January (-3.25%) were, meanwhile –and for the moment– discarded.

With the strong rebound on Thursday of last week, the dollar had touched its maximum value in the last two months. The last time she was worth more was on January 16, 2023, when she reached 39.86 pesos. Then, after a few downward exchange days, the dollar He returned to the 38-peso range, in which he had not been since February, and since then he has not managed to exceed the threshold of 39 pesos.

This way, so far in 2023 the foreign currency accumulates a fall of 2.83%. Regarding February 24, the exchange rate showed a monthly variation positive of the 0.44%. While, compared to the same day but last year -March 24, 2022-, when the exchange rate was 41,789 pesos, the interanual variation was from 6.83% negative.

This is the second time in as many months that this variable has been below 7 percentage points, the first being precisely in the high on Thursday of last week.

This last indicator fell sharply in recent weeks, mainly because, by then –beginning of 2022–, the dollar had already begun to fall after reaching the historical peaks it had registered in the first days of last year. Meanwhile, now, the year-on-year variation remains balanced and collapses every time the current exchange rate rises.
