SHANGHAI, March 25 (Reuters) – China United Network Communications has been actively involved in the development of sixth-generation telecommunication technology and 6G “application scenarios” will be launched in 2025, the company’s president said on Saturday.

Liu Liehong told reporters on the sidelines of the government-organized China Development Forum that the first research on 6G will be completed by 2025, though he stressed that the technology will not reach large-scale commercial use until 2030.

China officially started research and development of 6G technology in 2019, a move it described as aimed at promoting wireless innovation.
