A 57-year-old woman was hit by a car shortly after 8 p.m. on a zebra crossing on Bregenz’s Rheinstraße and was fatally injured. The 28-year-old, who does not have a driver’s license, was under the influence of alcohol and drugs, police said. He and his 48-year-old passenger, who was also on drugs, drove on without helping the woman. Passers-by immediately began resuscitating the injured, but she died at the scene of the accident.
The accident vehicle was found during a search in Hard, the vehicle occupants were identified during the night. They first accused each other of driving the vehicle. Both were classified by the police as unfit to drive. Rapid drug tests were positive for both. The driver was drunk with 0.4 per mille.
