Not less than “the best musical in the history of the Musical Spring Gmunden” promises the artistic director duo Elisabeth Sikora and Markus Olzinger. On Friday they will present the world premiere of the musical in the Stadttheater “Letters from Ruth”.
The international stage world is also turning its attention to Gmunden because the play breaks with the usual clichés of the musical genre by turning to a victim of National Socialism: “Letters from Ruth” is based on the letters and diaries of the Viennese Jew Ruth Maier during the Nazi era. The play is also about the love between two courageous women. “It shows how people mastered their lives in bad times, while today we often whine on a high level”says Olzinger, who has been rehearsing with his ensemble since February. “I was surprised myself at the life-affirming moments in this musical.”
“Letters from Ruth” is played ten times. If you want to see the piece for sure, you should secure a pre-sale ticket this week. This is possible online at www.musical-gmunden.com
