To the Upper Austria. Five athletes from the judo section of ASKÖ Bad Ischl also took part in the judo school championships in Niederwaldkirchen (Mühlviertel) – and with great success.
In the U12 age group, Niels Flohberger (up to 38 kg) and Tobias Fritzenwallner (up to 42 kg) started. Both were able to win their strong weight classes with convincing early victories and each took the championship title.
The three remaining Ischlers were represented in the U14 age group. Michaela Ellmauer (up to 32 kg) secured the gold medal after winning Ippon. Finn Flohberger (up to 42 kg) lost to the later tournament winner at the start, but won the bronze medal in the consolation round. Philipp Scheutz (up to 46 kg) finished fifth.
Meanwhile, the Ischl judoka Alexander Kaserer was part of the national team at the U21 European Cup in Coimbra (Portugal) and finished fifth in the weight class up to 73 kg. With this he collected valuable IJF points.
