As early as 2022, the Steyr Stolperstein initiative was created, which will lay the first eleven stumbling blocks in Steyr in May – where these families once lived.
The initiator Waltraud Neuhauser-Pfeiffer, who has been dealing with the history of Jewish families in Steyr for a long time, presented the project. Anna Warda from the team around the German artist Gunter Demnig, who laid the first stumbling blocks in Berlin in the 1990s, explained the idea behind it and how it came about that the hundred thousandth stumbling block will probably be laid in Europe this year.
There were additional contributions from students of the BRG and from Axel Kliment-Feuerberg, who, among other things, maintains his own website on the subject. Students from HLW Steyr helped organize the evening.
