The act of opening the offer of International Competitive Bidding opened this Tuesday at the Maldonado City Hall for waste management, a contract that would last 10 years and that will demand the payment of 150 million dollars.
“Service waste collection and transportation to the recovery site in the entire department of Maldonado” is the name of the international public tender in Maldonado, in which three companies have already shown their interest.
Among the companies are TGA Teyma Environmental Management, the signature Taym Joint Stock Company of the Argentine group Benito Roggio SA and the firm QualixEcotechno. To apply, it was necessary to acquire the specifications of the tender that cost 2 million pesos, approximately equivalent to 50 thousand dollars.

The tender for the provision of waste collection services will last 10 years due because it has the objective of giving companies the opportunity to amortize the fixed costs that the provision of the service will demand.
The services that will be required from the winner of the tender are the automated collection household waste side, semi-automated collection of recyclable waste, collection of waste from large generatorsin this case with stationary compactor box and manual system, collection of bulky, scattered waste and dead animals.
On the other hand, the future concessionaire will be required to put into action 5000 containers, as opposed to the 4,700 that are currently operating. In turn, that number should grow as the years go by and there is evidence of growth in new subdivisions throughout Maldonado. In addition, the winner must contribute 15 trucks to lift waste laterallyas well as having other heavier vehicles to use in case the others break down.
