The fairgrounds on the exhibition grounds are filled to the last seat, where yesterday the rides of the Welser Volksfest were polished to a high gloss. The bookings of companies and groups in the festival tent “Zum Ludwig” are already very good, so that a successful edition of the traditional Wels event can be celebrated from Thursday evening to Sunday. You can combine the visit with the garden fair “Blooming Austria” and the leisure fair “Holiday & Excursion”, which take place at the same time from Friday, March 31st to Sunday, April 2nd.

Trade fair director Robert Schneider is not worried about the mixed weather forecast for April. “Our experience has been that visitors are very weatherproof as long as we don’t have continuous rain,” says Schneider. A new feature at the folk festival this year is a grandstand near the wine village with seating, lighting and music boxes. This new forecourt should become a meeting place for young people, says Schneider. Several groups and a DJ will set the mood musically in the marquee. “Die Partyhirschen” will kick off on Thursday, “Zwirn” will heat up the audience on Friday and “Wildbach” on Saturday. “The young Waldensteiners” were organized for the morning pint on Sunday.

Compared to the folk festival in autumn, visitors have to dig a little deeper into their pockets. A beer this year costs 12.80 euros, half a glass 6.40 euros, and you can also enjoy a grilled chicken for 12.70 euros.
A tip for families: On Friday afternoon there is a discount of up to 50 percent on the rides.
Blooming paradises
Flower and garden lovers can get a lot of inspiration for their own green paradise at the “Blooming Austria” trade fair with 288 exhibitors, for example by visiting Hall 6 with the show gardens on more than 2000 m² and a garden café. OÖN columnist Karl Ploberger gives tips in the garden workshop “Garden happiness for everyone”. The master florists demonstrate their skills, as do the youngsters at the state apprenticeship competition. Plant lovers can stock up at the plant rarities market and the arts and crafts market in Hall 20. The popular leisure fair “Holiday & Excursion” also takes place there, where visitors can discover many different destinations for their next vacation.
