The traditional Spring Opening from March 31st to April 2nd marks the start of a spring series consisting of three tournament weekends.
Last year’s “post-pandemic comeback” of the series saw more than 1,800 starts during the first weekend of the tournament. A similar number of participants are expected this year. “From a sporting point of view, the anticipation for the main competitions in the advanced class on Sunday is particularly great,” says co-organizer Lisa Hofinger. The preparations have been going on for weeks. The team around organizer Josef Hofinger not only optimally prepared the three tournament grounds. 320 permanently roofed tournament boxes were also prepared for the accommodation of the horses. In addition, the team set up almost 130 tent boxes.
58 competitions over the weekend
58 competitions will be held at the Spring Opening, including 21 dressage tests and 37 show jumping competitions. Taken together every three weeks there are 182 competitions. The highlights of the spring series are the Grand Prix competitions in show jumping and dressage as well as the final of the Dressage Tour. The spring series will be followed by two national tournaments at RC Hofinger in May and June, which are specifically dedicated to young riders.
The three-week Ranshofen Classics are on the program from the end of July to mid-August. The Ranshofen autumn tour from mid-September to early October is the crowning glory of the season.
