The 23-year-old had disappeared in September after returning without Petito from a trip to the United States. The police regarded him as “a person of interest” in the investigation into Petito’s death, after he refused to answer police questions about his girlfriend.

After weeks of persecution, investigators found Laundrie’s human remains in the Carlton Nature Preserve near Sarasota in western Florida.
Petito quit his job and packed all his things into a van to cross the country with Brian Laundrie, until his family reported him missing on September 11.
The influencer, with more than a million followers on Instagram, portrayed idyllic images of the trip on her account, some of them with Laundrie.
According to reports, the couple was intercepted by the police on the road, in the middle of a couple argument.
