The government fails to reverse the rejection of the pension reform: 52% oppose it

The rejection of social security reform remains high and reaches 52% of the population, according to the latest survey by the consultancy Figurepresented at a time when the government’s key initiative is hanging by a thread due to disagreements with Town meeting.

According to the study, broadcast on Telemundo last night, only 27% agree with the bill, which already has half a sanction, and almost a fifth have no opinion. Since July of last year, opinion against the reform has increased by five percentage points and support has decreased by three points, reported Uy Press.

Although the majority rejects the social security reform in all age groups, is much higher among people at the peak of working age (30 to 44 years old) and those who are close to retirement age (45 to 59 years old): 57 and 58% respectively.

The gap increases with respect to income level, the Cifra survey showed: the low income sectors are opposed (60%), while the highest income group has relatively more support.

What makes the most difference in opinions are political positions. The reform of the pension system is supported by the majority of the voters of the Coalition, 45%. While among the voters of the broad front the opposition reaches 80%.
