announced the Association of Air Traffic Controllers of Uruguay (Actau)after participating in a tripartite meeting at the National Labor Directorate (Dinatra), where talks between the Ministry of Defense, the National Directorate of Civil Aviation and Aeronautical Infrastructure (Dinacia) and Actau came to fruition.
The union’s forceful measures threaten the performance of the Tourism Week in Uruguay, which will run this year from Monday, April 3 to Sunday, April 9. Thursday 6 and Friday 7 are working holidays.
Actau’s decision implied the suspension of takeoffs, for four hours each day between April 3 and 16, in response “to the breach of the agreement signed with the government on December 30 of last year, and its addendum of January 31 Of current year”.
What were the agreed points?
After the last meetings, the only point that was pending for Actau was agreed on Friday, which was the budgeting of 18 workers.
“In the collective bargaining instance held on the day of the date at the National Labor Directorate (Dinatra) we were informed that the pending budgets were finalized, so the announced measures are left without effect,” they indicated from Actau.
These budgets should have been made in October 2021, according to the union, and the majority correspond to control tower officials at the Laguna del Sauce and Carrasco airports.
“In turn, we agreed on all the points proposed in the instance of March 29 and we will continue to bet on collective bargaining as a conflict resolution mechanism,” adds Actau.
In addition, Actau demanded a remuneration more in line with current qualifications, better working conditions in air traffic services, payment to instructors, a draft article for accountability and the continuity of collective bargaining.
