Where and how should you park in the Enns city center in the future? A parking space concept should provide the answer to this question. This is created by the company Regionalis traffic planning and regional development. The award of the contract was decided unanimously by the Enns city council last Monday.
Proof of own parking space
“Making the main square more attractive is an important concern for me. It should invite you to linger and be a center of social life,” says Mayor Christian Deleja-Hotko (SP). In order to create the necessary space, there are also potential changes to the parking spaces. According to Deleja-Hotko, it would not make sense to only look at the main square in isolation, and he also sees the need for sufficient parking spaces in the city centre. “If a project developer wants to build a new apartment in the city center, they must provide evidence of their own parking space within a 300-meter radius,” says the mayor.
With the concept that has now been commissioned, the current situation is analyzed, including with a view to where long-term parking spaces or short-term parking zones are located. In addition, it should be ascertained how the construction of an underground car park or a multi-storey car park would affect the parking and traffic situation. The results should be available by autumn, and they should list short and medium-term measures. There are currently around 600 parking spaces in the city centre.
