Argentine investments through local managers fell 14% year-on-year

According to a study of the activity of investment advisers, Argentines moved more than US$14 billion in assets.

In the last year, 28.930 million dollars were moved through advisors and investment managers, of which 14,734 million dollars belong to Argentine investorssomething that represented a year-on-year drop of 14%. These are followed by the Uruguayans themselves and, in third place, the Brazilians.

Total assets represented a 6% less than in 2021. In addition to the year-on-year drop in the amount of Argentine investors, in second place were the Uruguayans with 3,176 million dollars, with a year-on-year drop of 28%. Brazilians obtained a year-on-year drop of 13%, moving 1,662 million dollars in 2021. Clients from other origins moved 9,357 million dollars and were the only ones that had an increase of 3% year-on-year.

He Central Bank (BCU) published this week a report on the activity of advisors and investment and portfolio managers where the amounts invested and money movements are specified, as well as the origin of the actors, of which the Argentines had a large participation.

What instruments do investors prefer?

According to the BCU report, the money placed was in instruments linked to stock indexes, investment funds, fixed income, structured products and other variable income instruments. For their part, the services provided by advisors and managers were the order channeling, discretionary management, referencing and advice.

The report arose from the record of 173 agents, of which 106 were investment advisors and 68 managers or advisors awaiting the license change process. The total number of clients during the past year was 36,170, including 23,025 Argentine clients, 4,781 Uruguayans, 1,868 Brazilians and 6,496 from other destinations.
