SK St. Magdalena has done it again: After the then leader Bad Leonfelden had to vacate the place in the sun in the Landesliga Ost last week with a 0:5 defeat against the Urfahrans, on Saturday the 3:1 against Rohrbach once again put a league leader in their place. “The belief is back, we have our goal in mind again,” says sporting director Gerold Sturm.

His team only had four points after the first half of the season. With three victories in the spring, the club blew to catch up and gave up the red lantern at the weekend. “Even if it’s hard to believe in our situation, the team spirit was always there.” During a team-building day with games of skill, a dice tournament and a scavenger hunt, the team moved closer together – but the new way of thinking on the pitch was decisive for the successful run. “We are actually a playful team. But the team has now understood what is important in the relegation battle,” Sturm also counts the good work of new coach Harald Kondert, who took over the club in winter, as one of the reasons for St. Magdalenas Resurrection.

The red-blacks already did one in the previous season: In the last six rounds of the previous season, the bottom team, who was also defeated at the time, scored 16 points and averted relegation on the very last day of the game. Sturm: “We want to create such a miracle again this year.”
