Kraker also announces that the Court of Auditors will publish a corona balance sheet in the coming week. It is supposed to be an “added value paper” that summarizes recommendations for action based on 25 Court of Auditors audits. In Kraker’s opinion, there was sometimes too much watering can with the corona aid. “We found potential for overfunding, because sometimes several facts coincided. There were cases where no damage had occurred and funding was still provided,” says Kraker.
“attempted scandal”
Kraker’s announcement is not well received in the black-blue Lower Austrian state coalition: Lower Austrian VP state manager Bernhard Ebner sees an “attempt at scandalization”. According to expert estimates, only around one percent of this fund will be used to pay back fines, according to Ebner.
“The repayment of unconstitutional corona penalties is only fair and should be a matter of course. A correct design of the corona fund is just as natural. We are pleased about the great interest of the Court of Auditors and the broad public discourse,” said Reinhard Teufel, club chairman of the FPÖ in Lower Austria’s state parliament.
