They had fun driving and took advantage of the opportunities offered to them: This is how three young people aged 15 and 16 justified their illegal behavior. In the past six weeks, the boys have committed at least 15 crimes in the city of Mozart, in the Salzburg area and in Gmunden, causing damage totaling 50,000 euros. The Salzburg police took stock of this on Monday.
Also active in the Vöcklabruck district
The OÖN had already reported on the youth gang at the end of March, which is said to have been at work in different constellations in the Vöcklabruck district and is said to have committed more than forty crimes there. At least four times the young people went for jaunts in unlocked vehicles in the province of Salzburg. The partially damaged cars were secured by the police in Salzburg-Gnigl.
Designer clothes and smartphone
But that’s not all: the trio also stole wallets and cash from some vehicles. The men used the stolen ATM cards to buy cigarettes and food from fast food outlets. The teenagers made particularly good loot in a Salzburg shopping center: they stole several thousand euros from a car and used it to buy designer clothing and an expensive smartphone.
15-year-old in custody
On March 20, the youths, all Austrian citizens, were arrested in a furniture store in Salzburg, the Salzburg police said on Monday. Some of the cash and a stolen cell phone were secured at the 15-year-old’s home address. He refused to testify and is now in the Salzburg prison.
