“The most remarkable thing is that it has followed the movement throughout the month of March,” remarked the director of Tourism, Martin Laventure, who emphasized the expectations regarding the visitors that the department will receive.
Laventure highlighted that cruise ships continued to arrive at the port of east point and that there are notable events and congresses, in places like Enjoy Punta del Este and in the convention center, which keep people coming to the coastal city. “This allows high season ends after Easter”, explained the head of the tourism portfolio.
“We have good expectations with the Tourism Week, there are good hotel reservations”, explained Laventure, who also remarked that this public is “different” because there is a lot of internal tourism, especially from Montevideo and other parts of the country.
On the other hand, he named the brazilian and argentinian who are the tourists who come to Uruguay the most, especially at the end of the week when Holy Week begins in their countries. “We have the long week, they normally have Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, which is where the largest number of foreign audiences will be concentrated,” explained Laventure.
In addition, he stressed the importance of not only taking into account the “Sun and beach” characteristic of Maldonado, but also take into account other activities that are also part of the experience of visiting the coastal department. “We are having an amazing almost fall because it looks like summer and, therefore, you can continue enjoying the sun and the beach”, said Laventure.
