“They should be banned entirely,” Museveni said.
the ugandan president congratulated parliamentarians for approving the anti-LGTBI bill and he promised that he will not allow “the promotion and publicity of homosexuality”, that it will not be “tolerated” in the country.
The law referred to by the president was recently sanctioned and penalizes the identity of LGTBI people with punishments that can reach life imprisonment and even the death penalty.
The new legislation was condemned by various UN bodies. The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk, said that it is “one of the worst of its kind in the world”.
