The fact that the district fire brigade conference had also fallen victim to the circumstances several times in the past few years was to some extent tolerable. But if this year’s conference could not have taken place, it would have been a real shame. After all, it was important to draw an impressive balance sheet: Not every year in the Rohrbach fire department is as impressive as the last.
This was not only due to the total of 2060 missions that the comrades made in 28,000 hours. It was not only due to the 364,000 hours that were worked in the entire fire department last year. The peculiarity of the annual balance is based above all on the extraordinary density of major events that were held in the district of Rohrbach. That became clear when looking back on the “Youth Year” 2022: Together with two members of the youth fire brigade, the youth leaders Manuela Krieg and Josef Kleebauer looked back: above all to the youth camp in St. Veit, which the youths used as pirates to ” maritime capital” of the district.
Exceptional Season
The 2022 competition season with the state competitions in St. Peter and the state water service competition in Niederranna was anything but ordinary. In addition, the three local active groups from St. Martin im Mühlkreis, Hinterschiffl and the women’s group from Julbach traveled to Slovenia for the world championships. In addition, the youth group of the St. Martin fire brigade qualified to take part in the World Cup. The record: world champion, vice world champion, best women’s group in Austria, national competition winner, Fire Cup winner and state winner.
Honor where credit is due
The district command around state fire chief Sepp Bröderbauer also used the district fire brigade conference to present awards. Not only members of the emergency organizations, but also fire brigade-friendly companies were highlighted. Mechanical engineering Stoiber from Arnreit, the Resch brothers from Ulrichsberg (in the future Dreihans) and Biohort were happy about the corresponding certificates. The honored companies are characterized by a particularly fire brigade-friendly working atmosphere. “For example, we always give special consideration to members of the fire brigade in applications. They are characterized by a high level of problem-solving skills,” says Biohort boss Josef Priglinger.
There were also high fire service awards for the representatives of the authority. Valentin Pühringer received the Florian Medal of Honor in silver from the district authority. The Great Florian Medal of Honor in bronze was awarded to District Governor Wilbirg Mitterlehner. In her acceptance speech, she not only looked back on the good cooperation in the disasters of the past years, but also brought a small tip to “her” fire brigade: As a resident of St. Martin, she is infinitely proud of the successes of “her” fire brigade, but I regret that there are still no women in their ranks.
