Pegasus: book suppliers and carpenter dynasty

The list of companies applying for the Pegasus, the country’s most important business award, is getting longer every day. The prize is being awarded by OÖN and its partners for the 30th time this year. Until Friday, April 14, local companies can apply in five categories (lighthouses, innovation champions, success stories, hopes for the future and entrepreneur/manager of the year). Links, images and documents can be uploaded at nachrichten.at/pegasus2023. In addition, the companies are called upon to describe their “new paths” to us there: That is the motto of this year’s Pegasus.

Melanie Hofinger has already seized the opportunity. With her Meritas Holding, she operates seven bookstores in Upper Austria. She sees herself as a “book retailer” and has, among other things, installed a book machine in front of the Veritas branch in Linz. Hofinger also trains disabled young people in its branches. According to Hofinger, the book trade is still male-dominated: “I’m glad that I can breathe new life into the industry with my ideas.” She has applied to Success Stories, Future Hope and Entrepreneur of the Year.

The Anrei joinery from Pabneukirchen (Managing Director: Kurt Reisinger) is also one of the success stories: He is the fourth generation to run the company. With his daughter Klara, the fifth generation is already in the starting blocks. In the 1990s, Anrei was the first joinery in the world to switch to water-based paint for surface treatment. 200 employees are employed.

The list of nominees for the Pegasus will be announced in OÖN on April 29th. The trophies will be presented on June 1st at a glamorous gala in Linz’s Brucknerhaus. All applicants are invited.
