Should young people buy shares, Mr. Huber?

Young investor representative Dominik Huber

Stocks have been portrayed as something bad for far too long. They should be a matter of course when it comes to investing, says Dominik Huber. The Upper Austrian began to take an interest in securities when he was still at school and gained experience of the world of investment at the OÖN stock market game.

In the OÖN podcast “Money and Life” with OÖN economics director Dietmar Mascher, he talks about his first steps and encourages young people to get involved with the world of stock exchanges and to invest their money with measure and goal.

“Before you invest something, you need enough information. Financial education has been neglected in schools for too long and needs to be intensified,” says Huber, calling for support for the teachers who “already have a lot on their plate.” Huber demands that external experts give lectures in the schools. He himself is in constant contact with young investors: he is spokesman for the “Young Shareholders” of the young platform of the interest group of investors.
