Attacking his best marathon time of 2 hours, 26 minutes and 37 seconds, which he set in Berlin in autumn 2022: That’s what Marcus Reischauer from Pattigham wanted last weekend at the Paris marathon. “It was clear to me that it would be damn difficult. I couldn’t train for three weeks in preparation due to a corona infection,” says Reischauer, who flew to Paris with his wife Diana, his two children and friends.
The athlete from the CLR Sauwald ran a time of 2:25 hours, but had to slow down after 20 kilometers due to stomach problems. In the end, after two hours and 32 minutes, he finished 126th out of a total of 52,000 starters. “It was a tough fight to the finish,” says Reischauer, who ran up to 170 kilometers a week in training. If you take the circumstances into account, he can be satisfied with 2:32 hours, says the 40-year-old, who will try to improve his best time again in Berlin in the fall.
