It’s looking good for the cherry blossom hike. “I’m in good spirits that flowering will begin next weekend,” says Rainer Silber, managing director of the organizer of the Obst-Hügel-Land Nature Park.

The signs in ridges are already on white and pink. On Sunday, April 16th, thousands of visitors are again expected in the fruit-growing community for the cherry blossom hike, which is presented by the nature park, the Schartner farmers and the OÖN.

The Schartner have prepared a rich program for you. “We’ve never had as many stations as this year. It’s important to us that the whole town can get involved – for example the clubs, which are particularly well represented this year,” says Silber.

The Scharten music association, for example, runs a lab station in Roitham – with the right background music, of course. The parish of Maria Scharten invites you to the café in the parish hall of the pilgrimage church. Between the arcades you can enjoy cider, pastries, coffee and other delicacies.

For every taste

There is a bit of a folk festival atmosphere at the Lehnerhof with the ORF stage, pony rides and a giant bouncy castle. At the Firlingerhof, the Grillstaatsmeister serves up a “Schartner Gröstl”, on the stage Schuhplattler and a costume fashion show entertain the guests.

The Kronberger, Steiner and Meindlhumer farms and the “Beißl” snack bar are more comfortable, and this is where the region demonstrates its culinary diversity. The nature park serves spiritual nourishment at its information stand, where you can find out interesting facts about the flora and fauna of the region.

“Tasting” is not only the order of the day at the individual stations of the cherry blossom hike, but also on the hiking trails. Guests can board any of the four routes, hike through them at their own pace and switch from one to the other. The FF Scharten guides guests to the right parking space in the numerous car parks. If you want to emulate the day-trippers, with whom Scharten was already popular at the beginning of the 20th century, you can take the Linz local train (“Lilo”) to Fraham. From there a shuttle bus goes to Scharten and back again.
