Maldonado registered almost 75,000 vehicles that entered the Tourism Week

The Municipality of Montevideo (IDM) indicated Thursday as the day with the highest traffic, as well as a 29% increase in the number of buses compared to 2022.

As far as the Tourism Week in Uruguay, almost 75,000 vehicles entered the department of Maldonado, as indicated by the mayor, with Thursday as the busiest day, with 13,157 vehicles.

Although the Tourism Week began last Sunday the 2nd, in most of the country’s departments they expected a increase in the flow of tourists as of Thursday 6, and this could also be seen in the number of vehicles that entered one of the main Uruguayan tourist departments.

According to Municipality of Maldonado (IDM)so far this week almost 75,000 vehicles have entered, but the peak began on Wednesday the 5th, when 10,765 were registered, thus reaching the highest number of entries registered on Thursday, with 13,157 vehicles. Likewise, a total of 10,625 vehicles entered yesterday, as reported by the General Directorate of Transit of the administration, based on the inspection and control systems available.

Regarding the number of buses, there was also an increase of 29% compared to 2022, and 53% compared to 2021.

Regarding inspection operations carried out so far this week, 65 violations were applied, as well as 27 cars and 26 motorcycles were retained out of a total of 367 inspections carried out by the transit body. Of the 226 spirometries performed during these days, only three were positive.

Activity in Tres Cruces grew by 16%

Also during Tourism Week, the Three Crosses Terminal has been an increase of 16% in what refers to its activity with respect to the records of last year. However, despite this year-on-year increase, the country’s main nerve center in terms of long-distance travel has not been able to recover pre-pandemic levels of movement, and continues a 10% below.

During the current period, trips to the departments of Maldonado and rockon the east coast of the country, represent the 25% of the total, followed by the northern departments, driven more than anything by the thermal complexes. On the other hand, international travel meant a 10% of the total, mainly towards the Argentina.

According to estimates from the terminal, the current week of tourism could end with about 11,500 services completed by transport companies, between arrivals and departures.
