Fill up on carbohydrate stores, put your feet up and use good running shoes – these are the tips that the experts can give to all running enthusiasts. Because in a few days the time has come and around 11,000 participants will once again make the 21st Oberbank Linz Donau Marathon a festival of joy in movement. It doesn’t matter whether it’s the junior marathon on April 15 or one of the marathon competitions on April 16 – everyone can demonstrate their passion for the sport in Linz this weekend.

Thursday evening in the PlusCity in Pasching, all participants and those who would like to become one could get valuable advice from Gunther Weidlingerthe sports director and organizer of the Linz Marathon, Martin DitzerManaging Director Intersport Winninger on Linzer Landstrasse, and Christoph Zöpfl, head of the OÖN sports department. “It is important to have the right equipment. The running shoes should be bought at least a month in advance and broken in well,” says Ditzer.

Günther Weidlinger is convinced that the marathon in Linz will be a great running experience again this year: “The start will be at the Voest Bridge, which is only available to runners on this day. When you finish in front of thousands of spectators on Linz’s main square, that’s a unique moment.”

Registration still possible

What OÖN sports director Christoph Zöpfl can give the runners: “Don’t look at the stopwatch, just enjoy the atmosphere.”

Those who got a taste for the marathon talk by the experts in PlusCity can register for one of the running competitions at the marathon fair in the TipsArena in Linz until Saturday evening. “We are happy about everyone who is at the starting line. Those who are not there are the first to lose,” says Weidlinger.
