Unprofitable art: Forward played well and lost 2-3

Dragan Marceta did his best as defender in the back three. Point gain in Graz probably didn’t want to be.

When Forward Steyr meets GAK, the “Red-Whites” always win, which is because Graz have the same club colors. From the point of view of the Upper Austrians, on Holy Saturday it was at least a point to share. Daniel Madlener’s team should have scored one more goal or got one less with the new defender Dragan Marceta. Precisely the latter was the problem for Steyr, who only arrived in Murstadt by team bus five hours before kick-off and, unlike the big clubs in the league, cannot afford to travel the day before with an overnight stay. You can say that the eleven hadn’t arrived in the Merkur Arena yet, Lenn Jastremski was already celebrating 61 seconds after the kick-off after a solo about Graz’s 1-0 lead. Goalman Polster was then not in the matter after a back pass. Liendl intercepted his pass, and with a lot of effort Steyr was able to neutralize Graz’s unexpected ball win. In return, the Red and Whites from Steyr equalized after David Bumberger sunk a cross into the far post (12′). Only a minute later, however, a volley from Schiestl after a long throw made coach Madlener tear his hair out via the inside rod and put Graz into the goal to give Graz a 2-1 lead (13′). Forward then made the game, was superior to the field, but hardly had any chances to score. In the 52nd minute, Jastremski made it 3-1 for GAK, but eight minutes later, Lageder brought the ball back into the game with a sweeping goal to make it 2-3. As in the first half, the final offensive brought forward nothing countable. “That was stupid!”, the entire team must have thought on the long autobahn kilometers on the way back.
