On September 16th, the title “King of the Lake” will be contested for the 13th time – 47.2 kilometers around Lake Attersee with start and finish in the Schörfling district of Kammer. The competition is considered Europe’s largest cycling time trial event and the one with the fastest places to start.

The first starting shot was fired last Good Friday with the start of registration. The nomination phase runs until April 23 on the Internet www.kotl.at, then the starting places for individual riders and teams of four will be drawn from the collected registrations. Registration for teams of ten is based on the “first come, first serve” principle. As in previous years, the registration fee of three euros per person collected for this online raffle goes entirely to the long-standing partner of the ASVÖ King of the Lake, the Vöcklabruck district office of Upper Austria. The organizers, the Schörflinger cycling team atterbiker.at under their chairman Erwin Mayer, are again expecting around 1400 participants – from lone fighters to team riders, from ambitious amateurs to full professionals in the categories of racing bike class, time trial class, age groups, licensed riders, foursome -Team time trials (women, men and mixed) as well as ten-time trials.

Five of the six course records on the closed route around Lake Attersee date from 2021. The German Tobias Häckl won in 57:48 minutes, Gabriela Erharter became Queen of the Lake in 1:04:55 hours. Among the licensed drivers, Julian Braun shone in 54:56 minutes. The U23 record is held by Max Kabas with 59:08. In terms of teams, the quartet from Melasan Sport (58:15, 2020) and in 2021 the team of ten from Magnesium Pur (59:22) entered the record list.
