According to information from Ursec, the state company grew again for the fourth consecutive semester.
The Communications Services Regulatory Unit (Ursec) communicated in his Report on Telecommunications of Uruguay that the state company before maintains its leadership in the national mobile telephony market, with a 49.3% share. Likewise, the document highlights that it grew again for the fourth consecutive semester.
The state company reached 2,336,811 services of mobile telephony during the year 2022, after adding 111,400 new servicessomething that places it 19% ahead of its closest competitor, Movistar, which has 1,418,084 service subscriptions. The other 21% of the market is occupied by Clearwith 986,578 subscriptions.
As of December 2021, Antel already had some 2,225,367 subscriptions, with 47.4% of the market. However, in a context where the number of mobile services grew by 5%the state company managed to grab more ground in the market.
The president of the company, Gabriel Gurmendezassured that “Antel grows” compared to its competitors, and maintained that this increase in subscriptions means “more clients, more data traffic, with lower prices.”
Antel closed 2022 with more than 250 million dollars in profit, according to KPMG
Antel closed 2022 with a profit of 250 million dollarsaccording to the audit report of the Financial Statements carried out by the consultant KPMG.
The document ensures that the state company managed 10,074 million pesos of earnings in that year which, if the exchange rate as of December 30 is taken into account, is equivalent to about 251 million dollars. The amount of profits is slightly less than that obtained during 2021, when the figures were 10,766 million pesos (241 million dollars at the exchange rate of December 30, 2021).
